An extraordinary company established by inspired youth from a farmer’s family in a tiny village in Tamil Nadu, India.

1981- The spark happened; DECCAN Pumps was born to serve the Agriculture Market.

We began humbly with a few lathes and basic equipment in a rented building and with a handful of employees.

Dedication, innovation coupled with stringent quality measures by the motivated team moved the company from milestone to milestone.

Today, this family-owned company with state of art manufacturing facilities, international collaborations, and expansions, is poised for further growth to reach greater heights in providing water technologies and solutions through innovation and entrepreneurship.

1981

Mr. K.K.Veluchamy, Mr. M.S. Sundaram and Mr.P.Arumugam founded Deccan Pumpsand produced 6-inch Submersible pumps for the agricultural markets.

1982

We expanded our business into Public utility markets.

1983

Introduced a unique style of ‘a closed winding system’ instead of ‘open winding’ in submersibles.

1984

Designed and Developed 5” borehole pumps, this was the first of its kind in India.

1985

Established its own facility to manufacture Stainless Steel pumps

1986

The company becomes a leading supplier of pumps to water projects across Tamilnadu.

1987

The company expands its manufacturing capacity and invests in state-of-the-art pump testing facilities.

We Opened our first sales company in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

1988

The company develops and launches the world’s first vertical open well submersible pumps.

We opened a second sales company in Secundrabad, now in the state of Telangana, India.

1989

The Company wins the Udyog Patra award from the Vice-President of India.

Launched Close Coupled 6-inch Sub-Sevak Mini-Submersibles a unique product innovation used in Agriculture & Domestic building markets.

1990

Deccan Enterprises the trading arm of the EKKI group was launched with the specific goal of distributing, along with pumps, systems and accessories.

1992

The Group develops 8 inch & 10 inch Higher HP Submersible Pumps.

1995

Mr.M.S.Sundaram, one of the founders passed away and Mr.K.K.Veluchamy and Mr.P.Arumugam assumed 100% ownership of the group.

The first manufacturer in the world to produce double-stage Jet pumps without control valves.

1996

A new company with a new production facility and state-of-the-art CNC machines was set up.

The company becomes the first in India to obtain ISI certification of Open-Well Submersibles IS: I4220, from the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Opened sales company in Chennai, Tamilnadu.

1997

Group started manufacturing 4” Submersible pumps.

1998

The Company launches VOL open-well Submersibles.

2000

To have global quality standards, the company got certified as an ISO company.

Exports started to Middle East countries.

2001

HOT Open-well Sump Submersible pumps were launched.

2002

Started manufacturing a series of Monoblocs and HOS Horizontal open-well Submersibles.

The group sets up a dedicated service facility for after-sales support.

2003

A CSR initiative by Mr. P Arumugam along with his mentor friend Professor M K Natarajan. ‘Darbari Elders’ Home’, a non- profit-oriented senior citizens’ home is built.

2004

Unveiling of ‘The Kanapathy Towers ‘. It is to be the global headquarters and business development centre for the group.

Opened sales company in Pune, Maharashtra.

2006

Mr. P. Arumugam, a fond philanthropist, contributes generously – land, resources and his personal time above all – to establish “Info Institute of Engineering” a not-for-profit institution.

Open-well Pump plant expands its phase 2 production facility.

2007

Launch of HOSVR Series in Horizontal open-well pumps.

One of the founders, Mr.K.K. Veluchamy, fondly called the ‘engineer’ passed away. Another transition was forced on the group.

2008

Mr. P. Arumugam, the stalwart continues to lead the company with its tradition of innovations and achievements.

2009

Obtained 5-star rating for pumps from Bureau of Energy Efficiency.

2010

Mr.P.Arumugam builds a public community hall in memory of Mr.K.K.Veluchamy at their home town.

2011-2012

The group begins to restructure the family business. With long-term views on the sustainability of the family business, Mr. P.Arumugam assumed 100% ownership of Deccan Pumps Private Limited.

2013

EKKI a new state-of-the-art facility to produce high-performance borehole submersible pumps is unveiled.

EKKI Acquires Deccan Pumps Pvt Ltd and redefines its branding strategy, using EKKI as a corporate brand.

2014

EKKI wins several national accolades

Constructed and manufactured 54N and 6I series submersible pumps.

2015

Mr.Kanishka Arumugam the next-gen member is inducted within the Group.

The Marwa House, under the CSR activity, is a hostel built for the welfare of the shop floor employees.

2016

Started the journey 5S and lean manufacturing excellence activities within the group.

EKKI sets up International Division and launches its Global Product Range in Milan, Italy at the world-leading MostraConvegno Trade Show.

2017

Constructed “The Kowsika Apartments”, a state-of-the-art residential quarters for EKKI employees.

EKKI launches HM Series Horizontal Multistage Pumps and boosting systems.

The EKKI technology centre as an exclusive unit is set up with a team of Engineers who are dedicated to the development of new pumping technologies.

2018

EKKI Signs an International Joint Venture alliance with HomaPumpenfabrik GmbH of Germany, a world leader in waste-water pumps. This is the first-ever Indo-German Alliance in the field of wastewater pumps.

EKKI sets up EKKI HOMA Pvt Ltd a dedicated advanced facility to manufacture wastewater pumps.

2019

EKKI opens an advanced machining centre, to cater precision pump components to EKKI Group and its Global partners.

EKKI Pumps opens EKKI International Water Technology Centres (EIWTC) at universities. It is a global Centre of excellence to bring together pumps and water-related research, teaching and consultancy.

2020

EKKI has become the first pump company in the world to be part of the MBA curriculum at the world-famous INSEAD Business School.

EKKI Launches the world’s most advanced wastewater pumps for the Indian market in partnership with Germany’s HOMA.

EKKI joins forces with its German associates VIESSMANN and HOMA to help battle Covid-19 in India.

EKKI HOMA wins the emerging company award.

2021

As we complete 40 Years, our aspiration in the golden decade is for EKKI is to evolve from a pump company to sustainable water Technology Company.
